This is a portrait of my girlfriend done entirely in pencil. I did a lot of experimentation with the shading in this project and I'm happy with how it turned out, particularly her hair. She has thick, full hair and used dark lines and smudging to give her hair a sense of fullness in the portrait. Like my self-portrait, this also has a full range of value from black to white. I also utilize the white halo-like space around her to make her stand out more from the grey background. Overall, i think this portrait shows this girl in a positive light.
